Bike Pilgrimage & Prayer for Peace in Ukraine

03/19/2022 11:30 AM - 02:30 PM CT

Description

All are invited to a meaningful bike ride and prayer for peace to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Please join us!

Ride Illinois has partnered with the Multi-Ethnic Church of Mt. Greenwood and St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church to offer a 5-mile (30 minute) casual, slow-paced bike pilgrimage for peace to Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Palos Park. Upon arrival, participants will attend a prayer service for peace in Ukraine. We'll ride back as a group after the prayer service. People of all faiths are invited to participate in this event.

Schedule
11:30am: arrive at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Palos Heights (Map)
11:50am: bike pilgrimage to Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Palos Park
1:00pm: Prayer service led by Rev. Vasyl Sendeha
2:00pm: bike back to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church

Donations of medical supplies and monetary donations are requested. Visit sspeterandpauluoc.net for a list of needed items. Donated items will be collected at the start of the ride and delivered via bike trailer (or vehicle, if need be) upon the group's arrival at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Also, cash donations will be accepted during the prayer service.

Note that the total distance we'll be biking is approximately 10 miles (5 miles each way) or about one hour of pedaling. Contact Ride Illinois at community@rideillinois.org with questions about this event.
